Upgrade your charging game with the HyperJuice 60W Hybrid Cable for fast, safe, and tangle-free power delivery
Do you often find your desk, kitbag, knapsack, or purse littered with a rat’s nest of tangled and fraying cables? While it’s hard to achieve a clutter-free arrangement, you might be able to reduce some of that chaos with the HyperJuice 60W Hybrid Cable, a multi-functional device that combines convenience and durability.
Created by Hyper, a subsidiary of Targus known for its premium accessories, the HyperJuice 60W Hybrid Cable is a two-in-one accessory designed to keep your devices charged and your cable clutter under control. While cables may not make front-page news, they’re an essential part of our tech-driven world – try getting by when they malfunction.
A dual-charging hybrid
The HyperJuice 60W Hybrid Cable has a USB-C connector on one end and a unique T-shaped connector on the other, featuring both USB-C and Apple Lightning ports. This makes it perfect for people with multiple devices requiring different charging interfaces – though it’s important to note you can only charge one device at a time.
The cable is impressively durable. Unlike standard cables, it feels sturdy and unlikely to tear if pulled. Made of soft, flexible silicone, it resists tangling and fraying, making it easier to retrieve from a bag or desk. Its thick, robust design gives you peace of mind that it won’t break with regular use.
Beyond phones and tablets, the HyperJuice cable can even charge laptops like certain MacBook models. With 60-watt power delivery, it supports fast charging for compatible devices, potentially charging them 30 to 50 percent faster than a standard cable.
MFi certified for safety
The HyperJuice 60W Hybrid Cable is MFi (Made For iPhone/iPad etc.)-certified, meaning it meets Apple’s strict standards for safety and compatibility. Non-certified cables or knockoff cables can short-circuit, overheat, and even damage your device. MFi-certified cables, like the HyperJuice, come with a custom chip in the Lightning connector to regulate voltage and maintain data integrity, ensuring safe, reliable charging.
Case compatibility
While the HyperJuice cable is built to be durable and safe, it’s also important to consider how it interacts with your device’s protective case. The Lightning connector on the cable didn’t fit snugly into the recessed charging port of my iPhone 12 Pro, which was housed in a thick, military-grade case. However, it worked perfectly with my slimmer iPhone 8 case.
This is something to keep in mind if your phone case has a thicker design.
Despite this minor issue, the HyperJuice 60W Hybrid Cable is impressive. It performed well across multiple devices and eliminated the need for an extra cable to charge my MacBook Air. Available in black or white, the five-foot cable retails for US$29.99 and is available on Amazon.ca or through Hypershop.
While it’s pricier than standard cables, the peace of mind that comes with its durability and safety features makes it a worthy investment. After all, is it worth the risk of frying your $1,500 phone to save a few dollars on a cheap cable?
